Bank Indonesia Reveals Consumer Confidence Down In February 2025

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) said consumer confidence in economic conditions remained strong. This is reflected in the results of a consumer survey (BI) showing that the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) in February 2025 was recorded at 125.9, although it was lower than the index in the previous month of 127.2.

Meanwhile, the strong consumer confidence in February 2025 was supported by the Current Economic Condition Index (IKE) and the Consumer Expectation Index (IEK).

In addition to decreasing IKK, the Consumer Expectation Index (IEK) reached 138.7 or lower when compared to the previous month's index of 140.8.

Meanwhile, the Current Economic Condition Index (IKE) reached 114.2, higher than the previous month's index of 113.5.

Based on the category of expenditure of respondents, consumer confidence in February 2025 remained optimistic for all categories, with the highest IKK recorded in respondents spending more than IDR 5 million (129.0), followed by expenditures of IDR 4.1-5 million (128.8), and IDR 3.1-4 million (126.0).

Meanwhile, the development of optimism has decreased slightly compared to the previous month's conditions for all expenditure groups, except for the expenditure group of IDR 3.1-4 million which still shows an increase.

Based on age, IKK also remains at an optimistic level in all age groups, with the highest IKK recorded at respondents aged 20-30 years (131.4), 31-40 years (127.9), and 41-50 years (126.8).

Meanwhile, the age group 31-40 years and age 41-50 years experienced an increase in optimism compared to the previous period, while other age groups experienced a decline.

Spatially, IKK increased in several cities surveyed, the highest in DKI Jakarta (3.8 points), followed by Bandung (3.4 points) and Makassar (2.4 points).
