Pimenta: Only City And The Internal Circle Know The Release Clause Of Erling Haaland

JAKARTA - The agent of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland insists that he is "the ruler of his own destiny," but no other club knows the value of the release clause believed to be in his contract. Only City and his closest circle know about it.

City managed to get Haaland at a cost of approximately 50 million pounds (Rp961.5 billion) last year, well below the actual market value. The reason is that at that time there was a clause in his contract with Borussia Dortmund.

The release clause has long been a common feature for player at Mino Raiola's agency, which is now managed by Brazilian lawyer Rafaela Pimenta. Pimenta, who is Raiola's close friend and adviser for decades, is managing contracts for the legendary super agent clients. He took over the management of the agency after Raiola's death in 2022.

Meanwhile, 90min reported in June that City had sought to tie Haaland to a new contract, in award for the extraordinary 2022/23 season in which he scored 52 goals in 53 games and won trebles. Another goal is to remove existing clauses that can make clubs vulnerable to being left behind.

Pimenta has previously confirmed that Haaland has a "get-out" type in City.

"When a player goes to the club, I do everything I can to create a situation where the key is in their hands," he said last year. "If tomorrow you don't want to be there anymore because you don't like it, or if they don't pay you well, or if your wife wants to live in Paris, well, you go, right?

"I don't like it when players don't have the freedom to decide. I've made all contracts at this agency for 25 years. Everything. No one player has said 'I want to leave' and they can't," he said.

The agent, who has played a major role in The Pogba's The Pogmentary on Prime Video, previously described Haaland's contract as a "treasure chest" unknown to anyone.

Speaking to Spanish media, Relevo, Pimenta also stressed that Haaland is "the ruler of her own destiny" and that details of her contract are closely guarded secrets.

"Kontrak Erling diketahui oleh Manchester City, ayahnya, dia sendiri, dan saya. Tidak ada orang lain," katanya.

However, the idea that Haaland could decide one day that he was ready for a new challenge and leaving City without a club could do much to prevent it, was rejected by Pimenta.

"I don't think it's necessary to say that Erling did what he wanted. That's not true," he explained. "Erling will always do his best for himself and for his club, Manchester City. When everyone is willing to make changes, that will happen."

: He's not the kind of player who would say: 'I'm leaving, goodbye'. It's not like that. And it won't happen because respect comes before everything else," he added.

"Relations come from both parties. I am sure [City] also respects it. If one day something has to happen, everything will be agreed upon. Because there is respect for understanding other positions. Discuss and reach conclusions. Solutions will always be found," said Pimenta.

Speculation linking Haaland to Real Madrid has increased this month. The Spanish giant has lost a central striker since Karim Benzema left the club to play in the Saudi Arabian league in the summer. Even before that, there was a striking absence in the 'nineth position at the Madrid club.
