Francis Ngannou Wants To Rematch Tyson Fury Next Year, Here's The Reason

JAKARTA Francis Ngannou wants one of the two fights he wants next year to have a rematch against Tyson Fury.

The former UFC heavyweight champion just received a lot of praise when he debuted in boxing against Fury at Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Sunday, October 29, 2023 morning WIB.

Ngannou became the center of attention after the fight and now there are many offers against other boxers queuing up. However, he stressed that he would prioritize the rematch against Fury.

"Re-arrowing is the thing I want the most. For now, I feel there are a lot of options for me, but I want to choose a rematch first," Ngannou said, reported by Boxing Scene.

Ngannou's desire to rematch with Fury doesn't seem to be going to happen at least in the near future. The reason is, Fury is scheduled to face Oleksandr Usyk to fight for an undisputed heavyweight world title.

The fight will reportedly take place in February next year in Riyadh. Initially, Fury's duel against Usyk was scheduled to take place on the nearest December 23rd.

Ngannou said that if Usyk had stepped down from the fight against Fury then he would take advantage of that opportunity. Although the scenario is very unlikely.

"My best scenario in boxing is waiting for Fury. If Usyk could back down and let me fight Fury, I would fight Fury," he said.

"I plan to fight twice next year, maybe February or March. If it doesn't work, I can still fight in February or March in MMA," Ngannou continued.

"Then I hope that by the end of the year, this time in October because it will give me at least seven to eight months to recover from my MMA fight if something happens," he concluded.

Ngannou, who has a mixed martial arts background, did not excel against Fury. However, he succeeded in proving himself before the WBC heavyweight belt holder.

He even brought down Fury in the third round with a left hook. Unfortunately, Fury was named the winner through a separate decision to duel in ten rounds.

Tyson Fury's victory could not be separated from being controversial if he saw Francis Ngannou's performance. Many people think the Cameroon-French fighter deserves to win over Fury.
