2023 Asian Para Games Results: Indonesia Now Has Five Gold Medals

JAKARTA - The Indonesian contingent added two gold medals on Wednesday, October 25 noon, Western Indonesian Time (WIB). The two medals were presented by athletics athlete, Saptoyogo Purnomo, and blind judo champion, Roma Siska Tampubolon.

Saptoyogo again presented medals for the Indonesian contingent at the 2023 Asian Para Games. Saptoyogo's second gold medal increased the Indonesian contingent's total gold haul to four.

Taking part in the Men's 200m T37 in Hangzhou, China on Wednesday, October 25, Saptoyogo managed to emerge as champion with a time of 23.34 seconds.

The Indonesian athlete beat Ali Yousef from Saudi Arabia with a time of 24.75 seconds and Shreyansh Trivedi from India in third place with a time of 25.26 seconds.

Apart from successfully presenting Indonesia with a fourth gold medal, Saptoyogo's time also broke the Asian Para Games record in the 200-meter event.

Previously, the record was held by Chinese athlete Shang Guangxu at the 2014 Asian Para Games with a time of 23.41 seconds.

Meanwhile, Roma Siska managed to win a gold medal for Indonesia, through the Women's +70 Kg J1 number. This is the first time that the Indonesian Blind Judo Team has won gold at the Asian Para Games.

It wasn't just Saptoyogo and Roma Siska who succeeded in presenting medals for Indonesia, on Wednesday, October 25 afternoon there were also three additional bronze medals from other sports.

Indonesia's three bronze medals were won by Jaenal Aripin from Para Athletics in the Men's 100m T54 event, Wahyu Retno Wulandari/ Mahda Aulia in Women's Double Recurve Open archery, and Rahmad Hidayat from Para Table Tennis in Men's Single Class 6.

The provisional results as of 12.00 p.m. WIB for the Indonesian contingent were still in ninth position in the standings below Malaysia. So far the Red and White team has collected 4 gold, 5 silver, and 10 bronze.
