The Cause Of Bagas/Fikri Tumbang In The Denmark Open 2023 Final

JAKARTA Men's doubles coach Aryono Miranat revealed the reason why his team Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri lost in the Denmark Open 2023 final.

Bagas/Fikri reached the final of the Super 750 BWF event on Sunday, October 22, 2023 yesterday. However, their top party was beaten by Malaysian doubles and fifth seed Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik.

Aryono said that reaching the final was a result that was more than enough. However, they looked less confident in that final match.

"Many punches are hesitant, many make mistakes themselves. So, anti-limaxes with parties from the first half to the semifinals," he said in a statement received.

Bagas/Fikri reached the final by defeating a number of seeds. Starting from stopping the fourth seed from South Korea, Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae.

They then beat Taiwanese pair Lee Jhe-Huei/Yang Po-Hsuan in the quarter-finals before donating first seed Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the semifinals.

"In the future, we have to do better, we are even more confident. [It needs to] be used as an experience for future matches," said Aryono.

The failure of Bagas/Fikri made Indonesia not bring home the title from Denmark. This worsened the badminton record after not getting a medal at the 2023 Asian Games Hangzhou.

Aryono said that the evaluation for the men's doubles in general was a performance that was not optimal, lacked focus on playing rally balls, and was less consistent in the game.

"It's too easy to lose points, especially when you're ahead, unable to maintain position and fighting spirit also needs more, especially in tight points," he said.
