Erik Ten Hag Bela Andre Onana Who Is The'shooting Target'

JAKARTA - Manchester United goalkeeper Andrea Onana was the target of criticism after making a fatal blunder when his team lost 3-4 to Bayern Munich in the inaugural match of the 2023/2024 Champions League Group A preliminary match, Thursday, September 21, early morning WIB.

In that match, Onana, who made a blunder for failing to catch the ball from Lero Sane's kick, was actually easy to anticipate. As a result of his mistake, MU then conceded the first goal and lowered the mentality of the other players.

After the match, Onana blamed herself as the main actor in MU's defeat to The Bavarian. However, the manager of the Red Devils, Erik ten Hag, did not think so.

"Football, overall, there will always be mistakes and this is a mistake (from Onana). So we also don't make it bigger than the truth," said Ten Hag who defended Onana.

The Dutch manager believes Onana's performance will improve. This has been proven by the goalkeeper who was brought in by the Reds Devils from Inter Milan while making several brilliant saves in the second half of the match against Bayern.

"He did, in the second half, a great save for us and he showed his capabilities and abilities and he will bounce back and he is a very important player," Ten Hag said.

The defense did not only come from Ten Hag. The same statement was also made by MU player, Victor Lindelof.

"The mistake (of Onana) is part of football. It did happen," said Lindelof.
