JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo officially announced the Indonesian contingent for the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China on Friday, September 1, 2023.

At the same time, the Minister of Youth and Sports also ensured that there would be no contingent leaving independently. Dito said that all contingents will depart and be borne by the government, which in this case is the responsibility of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora).

"There is no (departure) for the 2023 Asian Games. Still everything (contingent) is the responsibility of the government and budgets are also from the government," said Menpora Dito Ariotedjo during a press conference at the Kemenpora Office, Senayan on Friday, September 1 afternoon WIB.

"Because everyone went with the red and white flag and as representatives of the state, we want this Asian Games event to be a big event," he added.

Given that the 2023 Asian Games are a big international agenda, the spirit presented is also unmitigated. Likewise, it is the responsibility of the government that wants to fully support the athletes' efforts to make this nation proud.

"This (Asian Games 2023) is not just a test event, therefore the Ministry of Youth and Sports is committed to all sports that really want to penetrate the international world. We are committed to supporting departures in other single events, so we decided so that no contingent will go to the bath," he explained.

For the 2023 Asian Games, the Minister of Youth and Sports previously announced that 414 athletes would be sent to represent Indonesia. This number is spread across 31 sports that will be followed in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8.

Regarding the target, the Minister of Youth and Sports is confident that Indonesia can get at least 12 gold medals and enter 12th position in the final list of medals.
