JAKARTA - Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro won the English GP Moto thanks to his success in overtaking Francesco Bagnaia in the final lap on Sunday.

Brad Binder completed the ranks of the podium riders at the Silverstone Circuit, after he finished third.

Bagnaia maintains her advantage at the top of the riders' standings with a collection of 41 points. Bagnaia managed to do this due to her closest competitor Marco Bezzecchi having an accident.

Bagnaia leads the standings with 214 points, followed by Jorge Martin with 173 points, and Bezzecchi with 167 points.

"This is one of the days when you feel unbeaten," Espargaro was quoted as saying by AFP.

"Even though I started from the 12th position, I feel very comfortable with the motorbike," added the Spaniard.

The rain started wetting the circuit in the final phase of the race to increase tensions, when Espargaro made very careful time calculations to overtake Bagnaia.

"My plan is to get past him (Bagnaia) but when it rains, I say in my heart, "good, stay calm and let Pecco (Bagnaia) open the track and then on the final lap I have to do something more to overtake him," said Espargaro.

"The last lap was so dramatic, with a lot of riders coming from behind, (the track) was so slippery, then it felt pretty terrible," he added.
