PSSI Offers Several Offers To FIFA Regarding The U-17 World Cup, Starting From Stadiums To Group Distribution

JAKARTA - The All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) held a meeting with the International Football Federation (FIFA) to discuss preparations for the U-17 World Cup. The meeting was held at the PSSI Office, Wednesday, August 2.

During this meeting, PSSI submitted several proposals to FIFA representatives. PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir, his party offered several options considering that the preparation time was getting shorter, which was less than 100 days.

"From the discussion, we tried to offer several proposals," said Erick, as reported by PSSI's official website.

Regarding the stadium, said Erick, FIFA finally decided to only use four stadiums after previously PSSI proposed eight stadiums.

"There are 8 proposed stadiums, of which 6 have been reviewed for the last U-20. From the budget agreement, it seems that it has narrowed to 4 stadiums, so there is one city of two groups. And, FIFA believes, 4 stadiums are sufficient," said Erick.

Erick said that grass treatment must be improved because it is FIFA's concern. He also said that FIFA would send an even bigger team on August 15-26 2023.

One of its parts is a team of grass experts from Australia.

In addition, PSSI also offers a 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup group stage scheme. The national football parent offered that the preliminary be held in Jakarta for two groups, Bandung for two groups, Solo for one group, and Surabaya for one group.

"We also propose that Indonesia also play in Jakarta. The semifinals and finals will be held in Surakarta. And for that there are several improvements that are being pushed by FIFA," said Erick.
