18 Names For The FIBA U-16 Asian Championship Preparation Training Center SEABA 2023

JAKARTA A total of 18 names of players have passed the national selection (Selection) and are included in the team prepared for the qualification of the FIBA U-16 Asian Championship SEABA 2023.

The names were selected in the national selection which took place in Surabaya on July 5. They will make preparations under the Liem Filixs tactician.

"Congratulations to the selected players. This is a rare opportunity because not many young people your age have the opportunity to defend the Red and White in international events," said National Selection Person Andika Supriadi Saputra.

The National Selection was attended by a total of 77 players and carried out in a group format divided into three.

This step was taken to provide the widest opportunity to all young people in Indonesia.

Group I contains recommendation players for provincial, district and city basketball. In this group there are a total of 45 players.

Then Group II which contains 20 players is the result of Perbasi monitoring with the National Team Agency. Meanwhile, Group III contains 12 names who are players from monitoring during the 2022 National Championships.

The total participants were then reduced to 45 names on July 6 and continued to 18 names the day after.

From the last number, it will still be accompanied to adjust the team's needs in the championship later.

"We are faced with a situation that must decide on players in the near future. We run with time so we have to decide which players are most prepared to face the nearest event," said Andika.

In the FIBA U-16 Asian Championship SEABA Qualifiers 2023, Indonesia has the status of host. Surabaya was appointed as the organizer using the GOR CLS as the venue for implementation.

This event was attended by four countries. Apart from Indonesia as the host, there are Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand. Perbasi has also appointed Liem Filixs as head coach for this event. He will be assisted by Ernest Koswara as assistant coach.
