JAKARTA - McLaren will appear different at the English Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix (GP), this weekend. The English team will use a special livery with a chrome feel at the Silverstone Circuit.
The design refers to the chrome color which is a fan favorite. The color was brought by McLaren in the 2006 to 2014 seasons.
With that color, McLaren won with Lewis Hamilton, in the 2008 season.
This special livery was designed with their partner Google and inaugurated at the McLaren Technology Center, Woking. The land jet will be driven by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
"It's no secret that racing fans love McLaren's classic livery chrome. Google Chrome wants to bring back this iconic livery element to celebrate the team's history at the British Grand Prix and we are delighted to be able to provide what fans want," said McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown, as quoted via Antara, Wednesday, July 5.
"I'm sure this livery will bring back fond memories for many fans and I can't wait to see them on the track, in the upcoming home race," he added.
Meanwhile, Google VO Global Marketing Nick Drake said he was honored to be able to work with McLaren in bringing back iconic livery elements at the British GP.
"We look forward to the race at Silverstone and hope all McLaren fans enjoy what was promised as a very exciting weekend race," Drake added.
In addition, this livery design also follows the "jingga papaya" color livery which previously accompanied them to the team's "Triple Crown" title at the world's automotive racing event, including F1 races at Monaco, Tellum 500 CabinetCar in Indianapolis, and Le Mans 24 Hours.
