Aston Martin's Performance Begins To Make Fernando Alonso Worried

JAKARTA - Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso failed to reach the podium in the Austrian Grand Prix Formula 1 race last weekend. This is the third time Alonso has been unable to climb the podium in the 2023 season.

Alonso regretted the decline in Aston Martin's performance and speed at the Red Bull Ring Circuit. The Spaniard was unable to give the same performance when he took the podium six times from eight previous races.

In Austria, Alonso had to finish fifth. While his team-mate, Lance Stroll, is in ninth position.

"Actually, there's nothing wrong with the car, but we're not fast enough. The balance feels good, everything feels good, but we've had a hard time all weekend," Alonso said, quoted from the official Formula 1 website via Antara.

"It's the same as last year, where Aston Martin didn't go fast enough in Austria, and Haas is also very fast this time, so there are some kind of performance similarities for some teams. We need to understand this trend going forward," he continued.

The Spaniard admitted that he would speak and discuss further with the team what approach was most appropriate, both for sprints and the main race.

"You never know how the most fitting approach on Sprint this time, we are studying (why his performance is not good). So that at the next opportunity, we can be better prepared," said Alonso.

The next Formula 1 race for the 2023 season will take place at the Silverstone Circuit, England. This series will take place from July 7 to 9.
