Para-Bulu Team Aims For 8 Golds In APG 2023

JAKARTA - The Indonesian badminton para-badminton team won eight gold at the Cambodia 2023 ASEAN Para Games, one of which will be strengthened by Leani Ratri Oktila.

The para-badminton sport is one of the mainstays for the Indonesian team to gain gold in the ASEAN Para Games championship in Cambodia.

The Indonesian team is aiming for eight gold, four silver and six bronze medals as targets, by lowering the strength of 23 athletes in several events.

Some of the names of athletes who are believed to be able to win gold are Dheva Anrimusthi (SU5 men's singles), Fredy Setiawan and Hikmat Ramdani (SL4 singles), Leani Ratri Oktila (SL4 women's singles), Subhan (Men's Singles SH6) and Lina Marlina (WOMEN's Singles SH6).

"With a calculation of eight gold medals, we are optimistic that we can win the overall champion of para-badminton. We ask for prayers from the Indonesian people," said Indonesian para-badminton manager Sapta Kunta Purnama quoting Antara.

The Indonesian para-badminton team this time was again strengthened by Leani Ratri Oktila who had missed the 2022 ASEAN Para Games in Solo Indonesia. Leani is the queen of para-badminton from Indonesia who is the number one athlete in three of the para-badminton sports.

Meanwhile, one of the para-badminton athletes from Kulonprogo Qonitah Ikhtiar Syakuroh admitted that he was ready to face competition with teams from other Southeast Asian countries.

The athlete who appeared in the SL3 women's number ensured that his condition was ready for combat. "God willing, I am ready. Moreover, I was given the target of maintaining gold like in Solo," he said.
