Erik Ten Hag Has Different Views About Harry Maguire And David De Gea's Future At Manchester United

JAKARTA - Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, hinted Harry Maguire could leave Old Trafford this summer. The decision could be taken if the player was unhappy with the lack of time to play with the Red Devils.

Maguire has only played 16 Premier League games this season. The captain has often been criticized for making a fatal blunder when Manchester United were knocked out of the Europa League last month from Sevilla.

Ten Hag is actually quite satisfied with the influence of the 30-year-old player. However, when Leandro Martinez and Raphael Varane fit, Maguire was eliminated from his position.

Now, Ten Hag indicates the England international has a great chance of choosing to find a new port.

"No one is happy with this situation," Ten Hag said in an interview with The Times.

"He doesn't either. He always trains at the best level, so with 100 percent effort. So he handled the situation well and he was like that and as captain he was important to the squad," continued the Dutchman.

Ten Hag then added, "But he has a high competition there (in the center-back) with Raphael Varane, who is amazing. Say I'm happy he's here and when we need him he does his job. But that's also a decision he has to make."

If Ten Hag doubts Maguire's future, that's not the case with David De Gea. The Red Devils goalkeeper will remain at the club, although he does not guarantee his position as the main goalkeeper will remain safe.

Slightly different from Maguire, De Gea has always been a mainstay under the MU crossbar. He became an important figure in the team's achievement in setting the third best defensive record in the Premier League with 43 goals conceded, only ahead of Newcastle United and defending champions Manchester City.

De Gea also collected Gold Hand Sarongs after being listed as the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets.

"Yes, but I wouldn't say he would always be my number one because at a club like United there must be competition in all positions," said Ten Hag.
