FIFA Revokes Host Status For U-20 World Cup, Here Are Some Bad Impacts That Can Be Received By Indonesia

JAKARTA - FIFA revoked Indonesia's status as host of the 2023 U-20 World Cup. The reason was the current situation in Indonesia.

Allegedly, the situation in question is a matter of rejection by several parties of the Israeli team's participation.

With this failure, PSSI is threatened with sanctions from FIFA. Certainty regarding what sanctions will be imposed will be announced later.

"Potential sanctions against PSSI can also be decided at a later stage," said a FIFA statement.

Although it is not yet known exactly what the sanctions will be from FIFA, there are already some concerns regarding the fate of Indonesian football.

The potential to be frozen by FIFA is still there, although it is unlikely. The biggest loss is probably being ostracized by the world sports community.

Here are nine things that Indonesian football could do after canceling the hosting of the U-20 World Cup, as reported by the PSSI official website:

1. Indonesia will be frozen by FIFA.

2. Indonesia can be criticized by other countries for not carrying out FIFA's mandate.

3. Indonesia cannot participate in activities related to the FIFA calendar.

4. Indonesia will not have another chance to be selected by FIFA to host a sporting event.

5. Indonesia will be dropped as a candidate to host the 2034 World Cup.

6. The world sports federation will consider not choosing Indonesia as the host for sports events including the Olympics.

7. Indonesia will be criticized for acting discriminatory, mixing sports with politics.

8. Players, coaches, referees, clubs, and communities will lose their jobs and more than 500,000 people will be directly affected if Indonesian football stopped.

9. The U16, U19, and U20 national teams may not participate in international football events if FIFA freezes PSSI and results in a loss of economic potential of nearly trillions of rupiah.
