Gareth Southgate Still Leads the England National Team, Euro 2024 Is Next Tough Task

JAKARTA - Gareth Southgate's future with the England national team has been revealed. Southgate continues to work as an England coach until 2024.

Southgate had previously considered his future with The Three Lions after being knocked out in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup. They were kicked out by France.

However, the English Football Association (FA) has confirmed reports that Southgate has decided to stay until the next major tournament.

"We are pleased to confirm that Gareth Southgate will continue as England manager, and will take charge of our Euro 2024 campaign", said a statement from FA CEO Mark Bullingham.

"Gareth and Steve Holland have always had our full support, and our planning for the Euros starts now", he continued, as reported by The Sun.

Southgate has been in charge of the England national team since 2016 and has led the team to three major tournaments, including two World Cups.

At the 2018 World Cup, England advanced all the way to the semifinals before losing to Croatia. Meanwhile, at Euro 2020, England did better when they reached the final at Wembley Stadium against Italy.

However, The Three Lions finally buried the dream of becoming champions after losing on penalties.

The England national team also impressed at the Qatar World Cup this year. Unfortunately, they could not get past the defending champions France in the quarter-finals.
