France Is Considered Difficult To Stop Messi In The 2022 World Cup Final

JAKARTA Former France international player Gaeh Clichy thinks his country is a bit difficult to make plans to stop Lionel Messi in Qatar's 2022 World Cup final.

Les Bleus advanced to the World Cup final for the second time in a row on Thursday morning after beating Morocco 2-0. They will also meet Argentina at the Lusail Stadium, Sunday, December 18 evening WIB.

"I don't think there is a plan against Messi! You can't plan anything because if he plays, and he's been doing it since the start of the competition, you really can't stop him," Clichy said.

Albiceleste will struggle to win this quadrennial tournament for the first time since 1986 after becoming runner-up on two occasions afterward, respectively in 1990 and 2014.

In addition, they also have the ambition to get a title for Messi who wants to be crowned the World Cup champion in his last trip in the competition.

"These people are angry. One thing I like but at the same time I don't like, is that they say they play for their country, but they also play for Messi," he said.

"For me this is a big thing because I've never heard of anything like that, and you can be sure because this is his last World Cup [Messi], it will be different," he added.

France is the defending champion of this grand competition after winning 2018 in Qatar. They were the first teams to enter the finals in a row since Brazil did so in 2002.
