Virgil van Dijk Calls Manchester United Not as Big as Real Madrid, Suggests Cody Gakpo Don't Accept the Offer

JAKARTA - Cody Gakpo's impressive performance with the Brazilian national team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar has made him the target of several European giants' clubs. Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.

In fact, reportedly, Manchester United has prepared a tempting offer to be able to bring in the player from PSV Eindhoven. The Premier League club wants to buy Gakpo in the January transfer window.

PSV is reportedly willing to let go of Gakpo. As long as interested clubs want to pay 50 million pounds.

However, the 23-year-old player is advised to decline the offer. This statement was conveyed by Gakpo's teammate in the Dutch national team, Virgil van Dijk.

The Liverpool player advised Gakpo to prefer Real Madrid. The reason is, according to Van Dijk, MU is not on the same level as Real Madrid.

"Are Manchester United and Real Madrid on the same level? Not disrespectful, but not at all", said Van Dijk as quoted by Live Score.

Van Dijk believes that Gakpo will continue his career at another club someday. According to him, time will tell where the player will land next.

According to Van Dijk, Gakpo is a young player full of talent who will be much greater. "He is a great boy who works hard, is very talented and there is definitely more to him", he said.

"We are very happy that he did very well for us. Hopefully, it will continue", concluded Van Dijk.
