2022 World Cup: Beaten by Wavy Attacks from Canada, Belgium Wins 1-0

JAKARTA - The Group F match between Belgium and Canada was held at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in the city of Rayan on Thursday, November 24 in the morning. In this match, Belgium narrowly won through a goal scored by Michy Batshuayi.

A faded Belgian Golden Generation are embarking on their last bid for World Cup glory without Romelu Lukaku who has been the epicenter of their success in recent years.

This match was a tough opening game for Roberto Martinez's team, even though the opponent they were facing was a team that had not experienced the atmosphere of the World Cup for 36 years.

Without Lukaku, Martinez changed the playing style of his team which is ranked second in the world, especially as Lukaku's filler, namely Michy Batshuayi, was less impressive when he was defeated by Egypt 1-2 in a test match last week.

However, Batshuayi dismissed the public's doubts when the striker scored in the 43rd minute. His left foot shot from the middle of the penalty box penetrated the opponent's net after he received Toby Alderweireld's pass.

Canada is not without a fight. John Herdman's team actually confined Belgium with dozens of kicks on goal. Waves of attacks were launched into the Red Devils' line of defense. However, none of the goals were created against Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois.

The Fenerbahce striker was the only goal scorer in this game. No more goals were created until the referee blew the long whistle.
