Real Madrid Cut Points Gap With Barcelona, Carlo Ancelotti: We Achieved Our Target

JAKARTA - Carlo Ancelotti is very satisfied that Real Madrid can cut the points gap with Barcelona in the last match before the Qatar 2022 World Cup break which takes place next week.

Los Blancos got three points after a narrow 2-1 win at home to Cadiz in the 14th week of the 2022/2023 Spanish La Liga at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Friday, November 11 early morning WIB.

"We had a good start to the season, then we got a little tighter [competition in the table], but we achieved our target. We did more than enough. We got 35 points", said Ancelotti, reported by Football Espana, Friday, November 11.

The hosts took the lead through Eder Militao's goal five minutes before the break. Toni Kroos then doubled the lead thirty minutes later before the hosts scored a consolation goal through Lucas Perez in the 81st minute

This result is enough to satisfy Ancelotti because they are not reinforced by Karim Benzema who is not fit enough. Even without the French striker, Los Blancos can still show their sharpness against the opponent's goal.

"There are more games than last season, taking into account that we lost the Ballon d'Or winner [Karim Benzema], the striker who scored 50 goals last season", said the Italian coach.

Despite getting three points, Madrid still occupies the second position in the standings with a collection of 35 points from 14 matches. They are two points adrift of Barcelona in the top position with the same number of matches.

The Spanish La Liga will resume on December 31. Madrid will undergo the match after the World Cup later with a trip to the headquarters of Real Valladolid.
