Arturo Vidal threatens to destroy Real Madrid in Club World Cup

JAKARTA - Former Bayern Munich and Barcelona player Arturo Vidal is determined to destroy Real Madrid in the Club World Cup after guiding Flamengo to the Copa Libertadores title.

Flemango locked the Cope Libertadores title after beating Club Athletico Paranaense 1-0 in the final at the Estadio Monumental, Sunday, October 30 yesterday. This victory automatically ensures the Brazilian club qualifies for the 2022 Club World Cup.

In celebration of the title, Vidal immediately issued a threat to Los Blancos as the holder of the European Champions League title. The Chilean has ambitions to bend the Spanish giants.

"[Real] Madrid, we will destroy you", he said using the microphone as seen in the video clip circulating on social media Twitter.

This year's final is Flamengo's third final in four years at the Copa Libertadores. They have won two of the three finals and lost once last year against Palmeiras.

Madrid itself will come to the Club World Cup later as European champions after winning their 14th title last May by beating Liverpool in the final match.

Madrid will come to this year's Club World Cup having won on four previous occasions. Meanwhile, Flamengo is still looking for a maiden title after failing in their only final in 2019 after losing to Liverpool.

The 2022 Club World Cup is only expected to be held in February 2023 because it has been shifted by the Qatar 2022 World Cup agenda this November. However, there has been no official decision on when the tournament will be held.
