6 Swimmers Absent From The 2023 SEA Games National Training Center, The Cause Makes You Unbelievable

JAKARTA - Bad news has hit the Indonesian swimming team, which is currently undergoing the Cambodia 2023 SEA Games national training camp (pelatnas). Six athletes were reported to be absent from training.

The six athletes are Erick Ahmad Fathoni, Joe Aditya Wijaya Kurniawan, Farrel Armandio Tangkas, Angel Gabriella Yus, Azzahra Permatahani, and Flairene Candrea Wonomiharjo.

This was confirmed by the Secretary General of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Swimming Association (PB PRSI), Ali Patiwiri. He also revealed the reason the six were not present at the national training.

Ali said the six swimmers refused to be coached by Michael Piper, who had been a coach for a year. They reasoned that Piper did not provide progress.

But according to Ali, that's not unreasonable because the other 17 swimmers are still enthusiastic about training under Piper and making progress.

"The management is considering imposing sanctions on them so that it does not set a precedent," Ali said as quoted by Antara.

Ali revealed that PRSI had actually given a warning through an official letter so that the six athletes were disciplined in participating in training. However, until the time limit has been set, the six athletes have not arrived.

In fact, Ali continued, they still get and enjoy the training facilities, such as lodging, meals, and monthly fees.

"The federation is very disappointed with their attitude. It could be that some people have incited them to be undisciplined," he said.
