2018 Almost Met In The Ring, Deontay Wilder Left The Door Open For Anthony Joshua

JAKARTA - Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are now fighters without a championship belt. However, boxing lovers are believed to be still looking forward to the fight between the two.

When the two were still champions, there were plans to bring Joshua and Wilder together in the boxing ring. However, after spending six months haggling, the fight never materialized.

Wilder accused Joshua of rejecting an offer of 50 million US dollars (IDR766 billion) to realize the magnificent fight that should have been possible in 2018.

"I and Joshua should have fought years ago, I could have been the undisputed champion," Wilder told The Good Fight.

Now, it appears the two will try to meet again. Wilder did not deny that the opportunity is still there.

"Opportunities have not been lost, we are both still in the fighting business so opportunities will always be there," he said. "People still ask me when I fight Joshua."

"Some people still think it's the biggest fight in the world, between the two of us. It's the number one match that people still ask me about."

"It's not a matter of 'if' the fight happens. It's a matter of when, we just need the right timing."

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn has always insisted that Team Wilder's bid for the US fight was illegitimate. However, Wilder thinks otherwise.

"We're not going to keep up with Eddie Hearn's game?" said Wilder. "They drain us."
