Olivier Giroud Grabs Four Goals When Chelsea Shave Sevilla 4-0

JAKARTA - Olivier Giroud bought up four goals when Chelsea beat Sevilla 4-0 in the fifth match of the Champions League Group E at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, Spain, Thursday morning WIB.

The four goals simultaneously ensure Chelsea win Group E regardless of the result of their final match at home to Krasnodar, next Tuesday.

Giroud, who rarely got the chance to play as the starting eleven, paid off the trust of Chelsea manager Frank Lampard by breaking into the hosts' goal just eight minutes after kick off.

The advantage lasted until halftime and in the 54th minute it was only possible for Chelsea to double when Giroud completed Mateo Kovacic's cross with a trick that tricked goalkeeper Alfonso Pastor.

In the 74th minute, Giroud scored his third as he deflected N'Golo Kante's cross with a simple move to beat Pastor again.

Chelsea then won a penalty in the 82nd minute after Giroud was brought down by Sergi Gomez in the area and the aging French striker completed his stellar display by converting 12 kicks to score four against Sevilla.

The victory left Chelsea temporarily 13 points at the top of the standings, three points ahead of Sevilla, Antara noted on the official UEFA website.

Although the points between the two teams could possibly be equal after next week's final match, Chelsea will remain above Sevilla in the final standings due to their superior head-to-head record.

In the final match next week, Chelsea will travel to Krasnodar headquarters when Sevilla visit Rennes in France.
