JAKARTA - Yamaha Superbike racer, Toprak Razgatlioglu, said he would not leave for MotoGP next season. The reason, there is no place for him in the factory team.
Toprak actually had the opportunity to move to MotoGP with a satellite team, namely RNF Racing. However, he chose to stay in Superbike.
"I've said that we don't want to switch, possibly, to a satellite team in MotoGP. There is no room for me in the factory team, so it's clear that I will stay in Superbike," said Toprak as reported by GPOne.
However, he admits that he will continue to undergo tests with Yamaha this June. He will try out the Yamaha M1 motorbike used by the MotoGP team.
Before trying out the motorbike, the 2021 Superbike world champion admitted that he had spoken with Andrea Dovizioso, an RNF Racing rider.
"We are talking about the M1 because in the near future I will try it for the first time. However, I will only do a test," he said.
Previously, the boss of Yamaha Racing Team, Lin Jarvis, had several times expressed the possibility of Toprak participating in the MotoGP event. However, he has not been able to give a seat in the factory team because it is already occupied by Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli.
