JAKARTA - The kick-off of the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid was delayed by 35 minutes after fans tried to force their way into the Stade de France in Paris. This is a special spotlight for Liverpool left-back, Andy Robertson.

Robertson criticized the organizers of Saturday's Champions League final for the "chaos".

Riot police fired tear gas at fans as chaos broke out near the end of the Liverpool stronghold, which UEFA said was caused by fake tickets not working at turnstiles.

Robertson said a friend had been denied entry into the match, which Real Madrid won 1-0 to win the 14th most prestigious European Club Cup and extend the record.

"One of my friends was told it was fake, which I guarantee you weren't. It was a complete mess", the 28-year-old player told the BBC quoted by Reuters as reported by Antara, Sunday, May 29.

"To be honest, people are just making it up and panicking. The tear gas thrown at people is unacceptable."

Liverpool has demanded a formal investigation into the incident and said they were very disappointed with the entry problems their supporters were facing.

"It was terrible for our fans and all the families who have been through it too. It's not a pleasant experience, not a great final to go to. The Champions League should be a celebration but it's not", said Robertson.

The final was moved from St Petersburg to Paris by UEFA following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which Moscow described as a "special military operation".

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp said the families of some of the players were struggling to get into the stadium.

"What I hear is that we will carry out further investigations to find out what happened there. I heard some things that were not good, not pleasant", said the German coach.

"Obviously it's quite difficult there, but I don't know much more about that."
