Lorenzo Insigne Sends Farewell Message To Napoli, Colored By Moments Of Haru And Tears

JAKARTA - The captain and striker of Napoli, Lorenzo Insigne, has officially delivered a touching farewell message. He bid farewell to his teammates and fans after not extending his tenure.

Insigne's farewell moment occurred after the 37th week of Serie A match between Napoli and Genoa on Monday, May 16 in the morning WIB. In the match at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, the 30-year-old footballer also scored one goal in his team's 3-0 win over Genoa.

After the match, Insigne expressed his gratitude to all those who received it well. He felt that he had become part of the family in the city in Southern Italy.

"All I can say is thank you. Thank you for the city that gave me everything. I grew up here with you. We celebrate, suffer and sometimes argue, but always together, like a big family," Insigne said.

"Every farewell leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, but this one more than the others. Leaving Napoli means leaving home, knowing I will miss this and you forever," continued Insigne who couldn't hold back tears.

Insigne then also expressed his gratitude for the support given by the club and also the Napoli fans. Although often not in the best form, the club and fans always believe in his abilities.

"Playing for Napoli is not only an amazing experience, but a huge responsibility that I accept with love and pride. Finally, thank you to all the Napoli fans around the world, to all my teammates and all the staff who took care of me. To the club who made everything possible for me. this is possible," he said

"Thank you from my heart, Forza Napoli always," concluded Insigne.

Along with Insigne's farewell, the two sides of the stadium stands were also decorated with banners paying tribute to the Curva A and Curva B ultras, who are hard-line Napoli supporters.

"Your jersey is heavier than the others, because it belongs to someone who really likes it. You wore it with creativity, courage and dignity, as the proud son of this city. You will always be fondly remembered by this Curva!" this is the banner.

Insigne started his career with the Partenopei since 2010 at the main club until 2022. During 12 years playing for the southern Italian team, Insigne has recorded 336 goals and 96 assists.

After saying goodbye to Napoli, Insigne chose to continue his career in the United States Soccer competition with Toronto FC. At his new club, Insigne got a four-year contract deal with a salary of 11 million euros per year.
