Chico Reveals The Key To Winning Over China's Representatives And Qualifying For The Semifinals Of The Asian Championship: Attacking First

JAKARTA - Men's singles badminton player Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo became Indonesia's first representative to reach the semifinals of the 2022 Asian Championships, after winning the quarter-finals over Li Shi Feng in Manila, Philippines, Friday.

Chico overcame the resistance of China's badminton players with two straight games 21-17, 21-14 in the quarter-finals.

"First of all, thank God, I was able to win today's match. I am happy to have come this far and beat players who are ranked above me," Chico said as quoted by Antara, Friday.

Chico explained that the key to his victory today rested on his courage to lock the opponent's movement through an aggressive and active attack strategy.

"Earlier, I had prepared a strategy according to my pattern. Attack first," said Chico.

Chico's journey in the 2022 Asian Championships has been quite impressive so far, with wins over top players such as Lee Cheuk Yiu, Li Shi Feng to Kento Momota.

"This victory means to me, hopefully it will be a motivation to do better and increase my confidence," said Chico.

Chico, who will also strengthen Indonesia at the SEA Games Vietnam 2021, admitted that he was ready, but still wanted to focus on completing his journey in this championship.

"The results here are enough to convince me to go down in the SEA Games, but for now I'm still focused here," he concluded.
