Kicking Off Portugal's Moto3 FP2 By Being The Fastest, Mario Aji: I'm Not Really Satisfied

JAKARTA – Indonesian racer, Mario Aji, does not want to be complacent after being the fastest in the second free practice session (FP2) Moto3 2022 Portugal at the Portimao Circuit on Friday, April 22 evening WIB.

The rider from Honda Team Asia completed FP2 with a time of 2 minutes 2.491 seconds. He was 0.053 seconds ahead of KTM's Diogo Moreira who took second place.

"I am happy for this position but never completely satisfied. I have improved the lap time lap by lap this morning, but after analyzing the data, we found a way to ride the bike better in FP2," said Mario Aji in a release received by VOI.

Mario Aji actually got positive results since the first free practice. In that session, he competed for third place before finishing in 14th.

Mario then benefited from wet track conditions during FP2. In fact, this condition was considered dangerous for the riders, so Race Direction raised a red flag to stop the session after many riders crashed.

Even though the track conditions were not ideal, Mario actually managed to maximize his performance. He also did the same thing in Moto3 Mandalika, when he was in third place in qualifying which also took place on the wet track

"I feel much more confident in the wet with a few changes. I'm happy, but we have to keep working for tomorrow. I like riding in these conditions here. The circuit has good grip in the wet. I hope tomorrow the weather is good. for me. It means wet but not windy conditions!" said Mario Aji.

Moto3 Portugal free practice will take place again today Saturday, 23 April. After FP3, the session will continue to qualify and continue to the race on Sunday, April 24.
