JAKARTA - Harry Maguire's bad appearance turned out to be bad for his personal life. The Manchester United and England international has been under serious threat at his family home.

As reported by the BBC, Harry Maguire received a bomb threat at his residence in Cheshire, England. Not only that, the Manchester United captain, who lives with his fiancé and two small children at his house, also received threats via e-mail.

Cheshire Police in a statement confirmed they received a call regarding the bomb threat in the Wilmslow area on Wednesday, the day after United lost 4-0 to Liverpool at Anfield.

"No evacuation measures have been taken, but as a precautionary measure, explosives sniffer dogs were at the site this afternoon, Thursday 21 April, to conduct a search (bomb) in the surrounding area," the statement said, quoted by Antara.

Maguire has come under heavy criticism for his disappointing performances for both club and country amid a slump in form this season.

The 29-year-old was also booed by some England fans during the 3-0 win over Ivory Coast at Wembley Stadium last month.

"In the last 24 hours, Harry has received serious threats at his family home," a spokesman for the England national team was quoted as saying by the BBC in a statement.

"The safety of his family and those around him is clearly Harry's priority," the statement continued.

United, who have announced the appointment of Erik ten Hag as the new manager of the Red Devils, will travel to the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.

"He (Maguire) will continue to prepare for this weekend's match as usual and we will not comment further at this time," a spokesman for the national team added.

Meanwhile, MU did not immediately respond to comment on the condition that befell his captain.
