Newcastle United Remains Safe After Beating Crystal Palace

JAKARTA – Newcastle United moved away from the relegation zone after the victory over visitors Crystal Palace. This is also the sixth straight win for the Magpies at home.

The duel between Newcastle and Palace in the Premier League 2021/2022 will take place at St James' Park on Thursday, 21 April in the morning. The hosts won through a single goal scored by Miguel Almiron in the 32nd minute.

The single goal against Palace became Almiron's first goal since February 2021. He scored this goal after completing a mature pass from Bruno Guimaraes.

The last time Newcastle registered a six-game winning streak at St James' Park was during the 2003/2004 campaign. It was Sir Bobby Robson's last full season in charge of the club.

This victory successfully lifted Eddie Howe's team up to 11th in the Premier League standings with a collection of 40 points from 33 matches. They are 15 points adrift of Burnley who are in the relegation zone.

The place is getting safer for the Magpies to stay in the top caste of England the following season. In fact, before Howe took over the coach's seat last November, the position of The Magpies was in 19th place and five points adrift of the safe zone.

Meanwhile, this result forced Palace to drop to 14th in the standings. Moreover, dropping three points saw Patrick Vieira's men suffer back-to-back league defeats for the first time since the turn of the year.

The Eagles have now failed to score in seven of their 15 Premier League away games this season. Only Norwich (10) and Watford (nine) have drawn more away games in the competition this season.
