Indonesia Faces South Korea In Billie Jean King Cup Opening Match, Aldila Sutjiadi: We Are Ready, Optimistic To 'Brush' Korea

JAKARTA - The Indonesian tennis team will face South Korea on the first day of the Billie Jean King Cup Group I Asia Oceania.

This match will be held in Antalya, Turkey, on Tuesday, April 12 evening WIB. The match, which was formerly known as the Fed Cup, featured two singles and one doubles.

Tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi who is also the team captain will appear as the first single. Aldila came to this tournament after winning the WTA doubles tournament in Bogota, Colombia, last weekend.

Meanwhile, Beatrice Gumulya will double play. He will be the single that will open the match between the two countries and the double with Jessy Rompies in the closing party.

"We are ready, optimistic that we can 'brush' Korea in the first party," said Dila in the statement received.

On paper, Indonesia is still ahead 5-4 in the record meeting with Ginseng Country in this event. However, the Red and White team have never won in the last four meetings between 2010 and 2020.

The Bea/Jessy duet was also recorded to have lost to the Korean mainstay Jang Sujeong/Han Na Lae. The defeat occurred when the two pairs met in the semifinals of W60 Canberra, Australia, last month.

"This is the time to respond," said Dila.

Besides South Korea, the Indonesian team, which is also inhabited by Fadona Titalyana, will compete with China, India, Japan and New Zealand on clay, MTA Academy Antalya, Turkey until April 16.

The top two teams are entitled to promotion to the play-off round, while the bottom two teams must be relegated to Group II Asia Oceania.
