JAKARTA - The World Football Association (FIFA) ahead of the 72nd congress in Doha, Qatar, Wednesday, decided to adopt a new rule related to limiting the number of players that can be loaned by clubs.
In order to prevent the build-up of players and encourage the development of players' careers, clubs are limited to only eight international loan signings and eight players on loan to other clubs for the upcoming season.
Quoted by Antara from Reuters, this number will be reduced to just seven players in the following year. Furthermore, in the 2024-2025 season onwards, only six loan players are allowed. This new regulation comes into effect on July 1.
However, local players and those under the age of 21 will still be excluded from the regulation.
