Borneo FC Got Beaten By Arema Comeback, Fakhri Husaeni: We Lost Concentration!

GIANYAR - Borneo FC had to settle for pocketing one point after failing to beat Arema FC in week 32 of Liga 1 2021/2022. The match between the two teams ended in a 2-2 draw.

Even though at the beginning of the game Borneo FC was able to lead 0-2. However, Arema can rise and equalize.

Borneo FC coach, Fakhri Husaeni admitted, grateful to be able to pick one point in this match. However, he said, this result was not the desired one.

"This is not the result we expected because our target is to get the three points," he was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

Playing at the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Stadium, Bali, Borneo went 2-0 up first through the executions of Jonathan Bustos in the 32nd minute and Wawan Febrianto in the 38th minute. However, Borneo FC's advantage in the first half could not be maintained.

Singo Edan, Arema's nickname, was able to reply in the second half. They made Borneo FC stuck with repeated attacks that finally conceded Johan Ahmad Farizi's brace in the 52nd and 74th minutes.

"In the first half, the players played exceptionally well and were very good. We defended well and some of the combined goals scored were also extraordinary," said Fakhri.

He then regretted the appearance of the team who could not maintain consistency in the first half until the end of the match. Even though the opponents were not so under pressure, the Borneo FC players were considered to have lost focus and failed to anticipate dead balls from Arema FC.

"The two goals that occurred were in a set-piece situation, one from a free-kick and one from a corner kick. We actually anticipated this, we did it in practice," said Fakhri.

"We lost concentration, we lost focus anticipating free-kicks."

This draw makes Borneo FC still stuck in the 6th position of the 2021/2022 Liga 1 standings with 49 points. While Arema FC failed to overtake Persebaya Surabaya and was stuck in the fifth position with 59 points.
