Former Indonesian Women's Basketball Player, Jacklien Ibo Dies

JAKARTA – Sad news came from the Indonesian basketball world. Former female basketball player, Jacklien Ibo, has died at the age of 31.

The news of Jacklien's death was known from the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi)'s upload on their official Instagram account on Thursday, March 17.

"Goodbye, God loves you so He lifts all your pains. Hopefully, all goodness and faith will accompany your path to bright heaven," Perbasi wrote.

Jacklien died of a lung disease that was eating away at him. Due to the lack of funds, he only received treatment at home.

SOE Minister Erick Thohir also directly conveyed his condolences via Instagram social media. The owner of the Satria Muda club even met Jacklien some time ago.

"I did not expect this meeting to be the last meeting with Jacklien. May God Almighty accept all his deeds and forgive all his sins and the family is patient and sincere," wrote Erick Thohir in the upload description.

While still actively playing basketball, Jacklien played in the power forward position. She won many achievements while playing in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL).

He has been awarded the Sportsmanship Award, Defensive Player of the Year, Top Rebound, and Top Block. In addition, he was also noted to have been named the first most valuable players (MVP) in the 2012 WNBL.
