JAKARTA - Lokomotiv Moscow coach, Markus Gisdol, has decided to leave his post at the Russian club. This was done as a form of criticism of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine.

Gisdol actually enjoyed the moment with Lokomotiv Moscow. However, the German coach assesses the situation is no longer the same as the invasion by Russia.

"For me, being a football coach is the best job in the world. But I cannot continue to fulfill that calling in a country whose leaders are responsible for aggression in the middle of Europe," Gisdol said, as reported by Sky Sports.

"It is not in line with my values, and that is the reason I decided to leave my position as coach of Lokomotiv Moscow," he continued.

Gisdol also admitted that he could not calmly live his daily life as a coach if he chose to stay at Lokomotiv.

"I can't continue to stay on the training ground in Moscow, train the players, be professional and a few kilometers from there there are orders that cause great suffering to people," Gisdol said.

"This is my personal decision and I firmly believe in it," he added.

Gisdol actually only served as coach of Lokomotiv Moscow last October. Currently, his team is in seventh place in the Russian League standings with a value of 28 points.
