JAKARTA – ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion Reinier de Ridder successfully defended his middleweight belt. That was after his convincing win over ONE Welterweight World Champion Kiamrian Abbasov.
De Ridder and Abbasov meet at ONE: Full Circle which will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Singapore, on the evening of Friday, 25 February.
Quoting Antara, in the first round, De Ridder did not waste time to immediately bring the fight to the mat with his signature takedown. The Dutch superstar quickly shifted to side control and established his dominance with a smooth ground-and-pound flow.
At the end of the second round, De Ridder easily returned to the mat and almost finished the fight with an arm-triangle choke. Abbasov tried his best to prevent De Ridder from advancing his position, but in the end, the middleweight king was unstoppable.
Victory for De Ridder then came in the third round after he desperately worked out a head-and-arm choke to force a tap at 0:57 seconds. This victory extends the record of the Dutch Superstar.
He remains undefeated as a professional fighter and he is also entitled to take home an appearance bonus of US$50,000 (IDR 716 million) for his efforts.
Meanwhile, in the main support match, Roman Kryklia successfully defended his ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing World Title by defeating Murat Aygun in the first round.
Aygun pressured the World Champion to defend early, but Kryklia displayed a formidable counter-attack, bringing his opponent to the canvas with a perfect right-handed punch to the temple.
Despite surviving the mandatory eight count, Aygun was in a shaky state and Kryklia quickly moved to finish the fight. For his impressive performance, Kryklia got a bonus of 50,000 US dollars.
