Ahead Of The Italian GP, Hamilton's Target Is Still The Same: Chase Schumacher's Record

JAKARTA - The Italian GP will be held this weekend. Leadership Lewis Hamilton is looking to win a seventh time at Monza.

The Mercedes racer now has a career record of 89 grand prix wins. This figure is just two shy of the all-time record of Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher.

Hamilton could match that record if he won at Monza and the next race at Mugello.

Monza, like Spa, is a very demanding track for speed and engine power. However, Hamilton was undaunted. Even with the engine qualification mode being banned at Monza.

"I know the implication of the rule is to try and snatch ... try to slow us down but I don't think it will make a big difference," Hamilton told Antara, Thursday, September 3.

Hamilton has won five times at Monza, the same number as Schumacher. The British racer has also started six times from pole position at this circuit.

Looking at the statistics above, Hamilton will likely have no trouble beating Monza. We'll see the results later.
