Players' Mental Become The Highlight Of The Coach After The Indonesian Women's National Team Was Defeated By Thailand

JAKARTA - The coach of the Indonesian women's national team, Rudy Eka Priyambada, immediately highlighted the mentality of the players after appearing in the second match of Group B of the 2022 Women's Asian Cup. Because, in the match on Monday, January 24, Garuda Pertiwi lost 0-4 to Thailand.

In a match held at the DY Patil Stadium, India, the Indonesian women's national team lost due to a hat-trick by Thai striker Kanyanat Chetthabutr and an additional goal from Irravadee Makris.

Regarding the results that were won by Garuda Pertiwi, the coach admitted that the mentality of the team was indeed the highlight. However, the results in this match prove that the team has played better than when they lost 0-18 to Australia in the first match.

"The problem is in the mentality of the team. We don't have the opportunity to compete in an international tournament like this. We learn from this event," said Rudy Eka in a press conference after the match.

"In the first match, we lost to Australia. Now, we play against Thailand and lose 0-4," he continued.

Apart from the spotlight on the mentality of the players, the coach still appreciates the hard work of the players. Because according to him, the Indonesian women's national team has shown a tireless performance against Thailand, which has participated in the Women's World Cup twice.

"I appreciate the players' efforts, but the problem is the mentality of playing. The players don't have the mentality to control, pass and dribble because they don't have the opportunity to play at an international level," added Rudy.

This defeat against Thailand is the second defeat for Indonesia. That made the Garuda squad increasingly slumped at the bottom of the Group B standings without getting points.
