Potential Local Players Appear In IBL 2022, Menpora: They Will Contribute To The Basketball National Team

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali is pleased that the IBL 2022 event will bring out many potential local players. He also hopes that they will become the backbone of the Indonesian national team in the future.

The Minister of Youth and Sports was present to watch the match between the Tangerang Hawks and Bali United at the Senayan Basketball Hall, Jakarta, on Tuesday, January 18. This fierce match ended with a score of 70-68 for the Tangerang Hawks to win.

In this match, Menpora saw many local players who looked stunning. They are still young so they have the opportunity to contribute to the Indonesian national team in important events.

"Yes, I saw that the match was quite exciting, I am happy that the local players showed an amazing game," Amali said in an official statement on the Kemenpora website quoted by VOI.

The match between the Tangerang Hawks and Bali United was tight from start to finish. At the start of the first quarter, the Tangerang Hawks scored 6 points thanks to Lutfi Koswara's back-to-back three-point throw.

Bali United could turn things around midway through the first quarter to 11-12, but the Tangerang Hawks managed to end the quarter with a seven-point lead 22-15.

Bali United got a slim advantage of 32-30 in the second quarter. They managed to maintain these advantages until the third quarter.

Unfortunately, Bali lost its brand momentum in the final quarter after leading 59-45 in the third. Ardian Ariadi and Richard Ross managed to lead the Tangerang Hawks to change things to 69-68.

Danny Ray then added 1 point for the Tangerang Hawks to close this dramatic match with a final score of 70-68. This is their second win in the 2022 IBL.

"This is in accordance with the expectations that I conveyed at the last opening, that IBL 2022 is expected to be a place for local players to show their best games. That way they will be able to contribute to the Indonesian basketball team," said Amali.

The IBL 2022 will be held in six series in six cities. After the Jakarta series, it will continue to Bandung on 29 January-5 February, Yogyakarta on 10-16 February, Solo 3-9 March, Surabaya 13-19 March and Denpasar 24-30 March.
