Revealed, Michael Essien Ever Dated A Glamorous Model, Prince Harry's Former Affair

JAKARTA - After a year's delay, the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations kicks off on Sunday, January 9, with host Cameroon welcoming Burkina Faso. From that match, attention was turned to the legend of Chelsea and the tournament called the full Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON), Michael Essien.

In 2002 Essien made his international debut when he helped Ghana against Morocco. After his international debut, Essien immediately skyrocketed through a number of clubs he had defended from Real Madrid, AC Milan to Chelsea.

His name began to garner attention when he was in uniform for Chelsea in 2005. At that time, fame and wealth were side by side with the midfielder. However, along with the success on the pitch, there are reports that Essien once dated Cassie Sumner.

It is known, Sumner is a glamorous model who once had a love affair with Prince Harry. Sumner is even said to be the Prince's mistress.

Quoted from the Daily Star, Sumner claimed to have met Prince at a nightclub, then told The Mirror that at that time there was eye contact between the two.

"He made eye contact when I was standing at the bar with friends and he invited me to join his private table," Sumner said.

Even so, Sumner admits he is not too interested in the figure of Prince Harry. The model revealed that she prefers muscular men like soccer players.

"I plopped down beside him and not long after he started hugging me. To be honest, I don't really like Harry," she said.

"I prefer more muscle in a man. But he comes across as a lovely boy who is just enjoying a normal night out like a 19-year-old bachelor."

However, shortly after the incident, Sumner reportedly began a relationship with Essien, who was then based in London for Chelsea.

The relationship between the two is known to have lasted quite a long time. But after splitting up, Sumner said he would no longer date the footballer.

"I swore to God after Michael (Essien) that I would never date another footballer," he said.

"It took two and a half years before I dated again," Sumner revealed to OK!.

But it looks like what Sumner said was just nonsense. Because now the model is actually married to former Southampton and Portugal star, Jose Fonte.

When asked about it, Sumner admitted she did not know Fonte was a footballer. For her Fonte was a good man.

"I didn't know Jose was a footballer when we met at a local bar. But Jose is different from any other footballer I've ever met – he's actually a nice guy!" she said.
