JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team is in the same group as Malaysia in the 2022 AFF U-23 Cup which will take place in Cambodia on 14-26 February 2022.

Quoted from the AFF website in Jakarta, Wednesday, Indonesia and Malaysia are in Group B along with Myanmar and Laos.

The draw for the group itself was carried out by the AFF in Singapore on Wednesday.

Indonesia has the status of the defending champion of this tournament after winning it in 2019, where the tournament competes for players with a maximum age of 22 years or U-22.

While Malaysia's best record in the tournament was being a semifinalist in 2005.

The 2022 AFF U-23 Cup Group A is filled by Timor Leste, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam and the host Cambodia.

Then in Group C there are Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore.

AFF President Major General Khiev Sameth emphasized that the AFF U-23 Cup is a permanent AFF agenda and will be held regularly as a preparation for ASEAN countries to take part in the Olympics, Asian Games and SEA Games.

Khiev Sameth is sure that the tournament will be interesting.

The AFF U-23 Cup was first held in 2005, where Thailand came out as champion.
