Discussing Shin Tae-yong's Future In The National Team Whatever The AFF Cup 2020 Final Result, Menpora: I Guarantee He's Safe

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Zainudin Amali, guarantees that Shin Tae-yong's position will remain safe as the coach of the Indonesian national team after the 2020 AFF Cup.

"Shin Tae-yong is safe. I guarantee that", said the Menpora on Monday, December 27 at the Wisma Kemenpora, Jakarta.

Before participating in the prestigious competition among Southeast Asian countries, PSSI had given Shin Tae-yong an ultimatum. If the South Korean coach fails in the 13th edition of the AFF Championship, he will be evaluated and may even be expelled.

However, the Minister of Youth and Sports gave another explanation which he considered a strong reason for PSSI to keep Shin Tae-yong.

"Shin Tae-yong was originally recruited as the coach of the national team in preparation for the FIFA World Cup U-20. At first, it was 2021, then due to a pandemic it was postponed to 2023", said Amali.

"So we still need coach Shin Tae-yong. He will still be the coach for the U-20 national team that will appear in the FIFA World Cup U-20 2023", continued the Menpora explaining.

Apart from these reasons, it seems that Shin Tae-yong will indeed serve longer in the national team coach position. Because recently he was able to prove his performance through the performance of Evan Dimas et al in the 2020 AFF Cup.

Shin Tae-yong successfully brought Indonesia to the final round after crushing Singapore 5-3 on aggregate. The Garuda squad is also the sharpest club by scoring 18 goals from six matches.
