JAKARTA - Manchester United is the latest English Premier League club to be reportedly hit by the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to a Manchester Evening News report as quoted by Antara on Monday, club sources confirmed that several players and staff had tested positive for COVID-19 in a recent routine check-up.

They were sent home immediately before the training session on Sunday (UK time) started.

The other players will continue to conduct individual and non-contact training sessions.

United players and staff who traveled to Norwich at the weekend have been tested negative, but there are now several positive cases at Old Trafford.

In July, United was hit by a similar situation when nine players and staff tested positive for COVID-19 which forced the cancellation of a pre-season friendly against Preston North End.

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson contracted COVID-19 in July and was rested for a month, which saw him sidelined for most of the start of the season.

Paul Pogba, Alex Telles, Fernando Pellistri also tested positive for coronavirus last season and Mason Greenwood also contracted COVID-19 last month.

Ralf Rangnick's side travel to Brentford on Tuesday and it is still unknown whether the situation at United will cause the match to be postponed.

This news comes days after Tottenham's match confirmed that eight players and five of their staff had tested positive for COVID-19.
