Opening The 2021 KONI National Working Meeting, Menpora: Pay Attention To The Guidance Of Young Athletes

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali opened the 2021 Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Working Meeting (Rakernas) in Jakarta. On that occasion, the Minister of Youth and Sports advised KONI to be more aggressive in developing young athletes.

"Guiding, fostering because this is the most important thing in this Presidential Decree it is coaching (young athletes) that we will emphasize," said Zainudin Amali at the opening of the Koni National Working Meeting at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 8.

This was emphasized by the Minister of Youth and Sports because he did not want the seeds of young athletes not to be handled optimally. Because, if coaching is carried out in a structured and targeted manner, it will be a good achievement for a region.

"The achievement of regional pride is important but the most important thing is coaching. It's a pity for the regions that are tired of building but the athletes who are fostered do not appear to be representatives of their regions," added the Minister of Youth and Sports.

Furthermore, the Minister of Youth and Sports wants athlete development to be carried out from the smallest regional level, after which it can continue to be developed to a larger level. If necessary, the Menpora said that the government would provide facilities to help maximize the potential of regional athletes.

"The government will definitely pay attention, the government will facilitate and the government will work together with all sports stakeholders, especially with colleagues at the central KONI, districts, and cities will take care of it together," he explained.

The Minister of Youth and Sports also hopes that in the future sports can become the attention of many parties, not just related organizations or governments.

"Sports is not just a matter for the Minister of Youth and Sports, sport is also not only a matter for the chairman of KONI or the leadership of sports. But sport is our business together," he said.

In this National Working Meeting, an evaluation of the implementation of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) XX Papua 2021 was also carried out for a more qualified implementation. The reason is, for the next PON event, is slightly different because it involves two host cities, namely Aceh and North Sumatra.
