Conquering Venezia, Qualifying For The Last 16 Of The Champions League, Simone Inzaghi Admits That He Has Helped A Lot Since Dealing With Inter Milan

JAKARTA - Simone Inzaghi admits that he has been helped a lot during the adaptation process since managing the defending Italian League champions, Inter Milan, starting last summer.

The assistance that came was enough to pave the way for Inzaghi to achieve his targets, including the certainty of qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League with a victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the middle of last week.

The momentum also gave Inzaghi an opportunity to concentrate on keeping Inter in the title race for the Italian League title and the Nerazzurri just beat Venezia 2-0 at Pier Luigi Penzo on Saturday local time (Sunday Indonesian Western Time) to continue to get closer to the top of the table.

"Someone once said that this should be a year of transition and reconstruction," said Inzaghi after the match, quoted from Inter's official website via Antara, Sunday, November 28.

"I arrived here and found a club that helped me a lot in everything, as well as amazing people and I think we are growing day by day.

"The first target of qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League has been achieved, and now we can concentrate on competing for the Italian League title," he said at length.

Inzaghi also called 2-0 victory over Venezia as a good way to close a busy week period, after beating Napoli on Sunday, November 21, and qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League.

He praised the performances of his players, who he considered to be playing extraordinary despite having to undergo the third match in a span of six days.

"It's not easy to play three games in six days, but we didn't lose character against an opponent who played well," he said.

"The only problem is that we didn't get the second goal right away and keeping the game open is risky against a team like Venezia. But I understand playing three times a week is not normal, the players performed well," concluded Inzaghi.

The victory makes Inter, who is in third place in the standings, now have 31 points or only one point behind Napoli (32) and AC Milan (32) who only played a day ago.
