Indonesian Motorcycle Association Chairman Says Formula E Racing Is Proof That Indonesia Is Ready To Rise From The Pandemic

JAKARTA - The series of international racing held in Indonesia, from Superbike, MotoGP to Formula E (Jakarta E-Prix) is proof that Indonesia is ready to rise from the pandemic. This was stated by the General Chairman of the Indonesian Motorcycle Association (IMI) Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet).

Next year in Indonesia there will be two major activities. First, Formula E and secondly MotoGP, both of which have attracted the world's attention. "This means that Indonesia is very ready to recover (recovery)," Bamsoet said, quoted by Antara, Friday.

"We have just completed the first stage of the WSBK international 'event' in Mandalika which was a success and was seen by 1.5 billion world eyes through the broadcast of the event," he added.

According to Bambang, who is also the Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), the presence of international racing, including Formula E in 2022, will drive the national economy with further effects in it.

"Through the two major international activities that we have carried out, we have been able to attract many tourists and encourage the acceleration of our economic recovery," he said.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General of IMI Ahmad Sahroni said that international racing, including Formula E, is a good step for Indonesia because it is related to a pretty great economy in the future.

"We should prepare well because this will show the world that Indonesia is a great Indonesia in the future," he said.

Bamsoet and Ahmad Sahroni were appointed by DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan through the Regional-owned Enterprise (BUMD) PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) to lead the implementation of Formula E or Jakarta E-Prix racing.

In the decision made by Anies after his meeting with Formula E Co-founder Alberto Longo, President Director of PT Jakpro Widi Amanasto, Bambang Soesatyo, and Ahmad Sahroni at a restaurant in the Menteng area, Wednesday, November 24, Sahroni became chairman of the organizing committee, while Bamsoet became chairman of the steering committee.

Regarding the location of the circuit and the implementation of Formula E, it will be determined jointly by FEO, IMI, and Jakpro.
