Indonesia Sends 35 Athletes To The 2021 Asian Youth Para Games In Bahrain, Competing In 7 Sports

JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) sent 35 of the best young athletes to take part in the Asian Youth Para Games in Manamah, Bahrain, 2-6 December 2021.

Based on NPC Indonesia's official Instagram upload quoted by Antara, the 35 athletes will compete in seven sports namely para-athletic, para-badminton, boccia, para-powerlifting, para-swimming, para-taekwondo, and para-table tennis.

Of the total athletes who will go to Bahrain, eight of them are athletes who will compete in para-athletic sports, namely Sholahuddin Al-Ayyubi, I Nyoman Mahendra Yasa, Wakhidun, Yunika Anastasya, Ryan Arda Diarta, Firza Faturahman Listianto, Muhamad Dimas Ubaidillah, and Mila Sapriani.

Meanwhile, in para-swimming, Indonesia has seven representatives, namely, Tiara Hanum Kembang Joyo, Pria Wibawa, Mutiara Cantik Harsanto, M. Gerry Pahker, Rahmad Tulloh, Tara Athaya Yasykur, and Stensen Pradarma Tiar.

The same is true for the table tennis para-sport which sent seven athletes, namely, Rifki Mamunudin, Muhammad Dicky Ferdiansyah, Cici Juliani, Siti Fadhillah, Faisal Iksan, Imas Yuniar, and Hilmi Azizi.

Then six athletes from para-badminton, Adinda Nugraheni, Tegar Santoso, Muhammad Fajri Ibrahim, Anisa Fitriyani, Warining Rahayu, and Hikmat Ramdani.

The three Boccia athletes who performed were Febriyanti Vani Rahmadhani, Muhammad Bintang Satria, and Muhamad Afrizal Syafa.

Meanwhile, para-powerlifting has two athletes through Dwiska Afrilia Maharani and Elsa Dewi Saputri. While the taekwondo, Muhammad Rizki and Iqbal Fauzi Ramadhan.

Based on the Asianparalympic.org page, the fourth edition of the Asian Youth Para Games was attended by around 800 athletes under the age of 23. In total there are nine sports that are competed.

In addition to the seven sports that Indonesia is participating in, the other two are goalball and wheelchair basketball.

The Asian Youth Para Games is the largest sporting event for young athletes with disabilities in Asia. This event was first held in Tokyo, Japan in 2009.

Four years later or to be precise in 2013, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia became the host. As for the 2017 edition, Dubai, United Arab Emirates became the organizer.

In the Asian Youth Para Games in Dubai, as many as 800 athletes from 30 countries took part. Japan came out as the overall champion with 43 gold, 29 silver, and 26 bronze.

Iran is in second place with 39 gold, 44 silver, 35 bronze. Then China is in third place with 27 gold, 9 silver, 5 bronze.

Meanwhile, Indonesia took the seventh position by bringing home 16 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze.
