Secure A Place In The Round Of 16, Hafiz/Gloria: Losing Praveen/Jasmine Doesn't Affect Us

JAKARTA - The Indonesian mixed doubles pair, Hafiz Faizal/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja managed to secure a place to the last 16 of the Indonesia Masters 2021. This achievement was in contrast to the results achieved by their fellow mixed doubles, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti, who were eliminated in the early rounds.

Reflecting on the failure of his colleague, Hafiz / Gloria admitted that they regretted the defeat. However, they agreed that their chances of advancing to the next round were increasingly open.

"The Praveen/Melati defeat did not affect us, because this is not a team match. We are focused on the match," said Hafiz Faizal, quoted from PBSI's official statement, Thursday.

Praveen / Melati failed to advance to the round of 16 after being defeated by representatives of India. The defeat was allegedly due to their lack of communication on the field.

Seeing that communication can greatly affect the results in the field, Hafiz/Gloria actually learned from it. In the match in the round of 32, they communicated well to make it through to the round of 16.

“Communication in the field is very necessary. We became more organized to attack and press," said Gloria.

Gloria said that good communication with her partner was the key to her victory this time. Communication, according to Gloria, is an important aspect to find the desired pattern of play.

"We try to play consistently to put pressure on the opponent. Has been cohesive with Hafiz and can attack well," he added.

The ticket to advance to the round of 16 was won by Hafiz/Gloria after meeting the Indian pair Reddy Sumeeth/Ashwini Ponnappa. In a tight competition at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua, Bali, Wednesday, November 17, Hafiz/Gloria won in straight sets with a final score of 21-15, 21-16.

From this victory, Hafiz / Gloria will meet representatives of Hong Kong, Chang Tak Ching / Ng Wing Yung, who previously defeated the resistance of representatives of India, Venkat Gaurav Prasad / Juhi Dewangan.
