JAKARTA - Two officials responsible for the 2022 World Cup qualifying match between Argentina and Brazil on Tuesday night were suspended indefinitely by the CONMEBOL Refereeing Commission.

This came after the main referee, Andres Cunha of Uruguay, ruled out Argentine centre-back Nicolas Otamendi for elbowing Brazilian winger Raphinha. His VAR assistant, Esteban Ostojich, was also punished.

Andres Cunha didn't see the incident in person, but Esteban Ostojich in the VAR room watched it from several angles. He did not tell his compatriot that Otamendi should be expelled for committing the act.
